I have not mined in a long while. So now I have decided to rebuild our ore stocks. We made several billion isk over the summer months. It paid for plex and a small fleet of pvp ships. Of those pvp ships....several have been lost.
So it is time to rebuild our ore stocks and sell them. Use the isk to rebuild our pvp force.
Yogita is skilling up to use a Rorqual so it will be nice to have 2 capital class mining ships on field.
Over the weekend I did something I have not done in a long while. I insured one of my carriers. This carrier is ONLY used for closing wormholes. I decided it is time to insure it because soon I am going to get caught sooner or later.
Usually, I take a scanner ship in and see if there are ships active in the system. If it is clear I quickly grab my carrier and go and out of the wormhole to reduce the mass of the wormhole. This is the riskiest time. You have to burn about 12 km in a carrier that goes perhaps 250ms with the fit I use.
Now If I get caught I will get about enough isk to replace the carrier easily.

6/10 Hunting.
This has been our bread and butter for a while. Basically, I use a Gila a cruiser with bonuses to shield resists, and drone hitpoints and damage to run rally points. You see rally point yield very low isk per site. I think I make 150 million isk in A week! However, I do this hoping to get the best drop you can get in guristas null sec the pithum a type invulnerability field. This module is worth about 1.1 billion isk. So far I have 4 of them. I am hunting for number 5.
Some people in the Eve community will say I am nuts for using such an expensive ship. It is worth about 200 million isk. However, we never buy this ships. We simply use our store of minerals from mining to build them when we find blueprints running ...6/10 complexes.
In Eve complexes are rated based on difficulty and in some ways the value of the items you can get running the sites.
So a 1/10 is very easy and the drops basically suck. However, the best for high-security space in Eve Online seems to be the 4/10. It can drop an item worth 200mill or 250 million.
In Null security space, you find 6/10 through 10/10 complexes. Basically, the 10/10 is supposed to have the best drops. Well, Eve is a special game. Players make up the economy. We decide what is valuable based on basic market principles of supply and demand. So because the 10/10 found in our region is SOOO easy to run the items that you get are not worth so much. In the past....the 10/10 was KING. Tanking for the final room in the complex was so difficult. Due to this the modules that dropped were high in value. Very few could the site called "The Maze". Yogita and I were one of the few able to run it. We made billions doing it. Now...it is so easy to deal with the heavy dps the last room can dish out. So many people run the site and modules you can get from it have dropped in price.
Actually, even at that time the 6/10 still dropped the best item ever. So now we are farming 6/10's to fund our pvp!!

Time for an update!
Well, lets see...we have not been mining much. This is due to branch becoming so active with roaming groups. In addition, war is on the horizon again. I should say that one mining op I did get tackled in my Rorqual...I destroyed one of their ships at the start of the engagement. Then I just kept tanking them. Yogita realizing that I was low on heavy water (heavy water is what keeps a Rorqual running in siege mode with the self-rep bonuses, and enhances attack/mining drone performance).
So she brings her Chimera on the field. A Caldari class carrier is not the best in terms of damage output. She shields, on the other hand, are quite powerful. However, the dps from the enemy fleet was quite high and Yogita's carrier started losing shields and dropping into armor. You could see the heavy armor damage on her capital class ship as 30 cruisers poured damage into her.
I started repping her with my own capital shield remote repairer (a faction one too!). I could see Yogita's shields regain strength. Yogita is very aggressive, and together we tried to alpha people off of grid with her fighters aided by my drones. Yogita lost fighter after fighter until...she had none left.
Meanwhile, we had a rescue fleet forming and prepared to save both of us.
Late in the engagement, Yogita's carrier was starting to bleed into structure causing hull ruptures along the 4-kilometer long capital ship. I kept sending aid and the hostile fleet knew they had only seconds to destroy her ship and get out. Too bad! Yogita overheated every shield tanking module she had. In an instance once I light a beacon that would allow other capital ships to come to our aid we were flanked by massive support capital vessels. Yogitas vessel was stabilized and we docked up safe and sound. Now here is the interesting bit. The enemy fleet did not realize that the Rorqual (worth about 5 times the carrier isk wise) was out of heavy water! Had they have switched to me...I would be the one in real hot water.
That was a long time ago. In the summer. Recently, I have been trying to build up our Jita pile to 20+ billion isk and get back to mining.

Mining and building!
Well, we are now sitting on 13 billion isk of minerals and compressed ore. I have built about 30 canes 10 vexors (which will become ishtars), and 10 support cruisers. The cruisers will be used for home space defence. While the canes will we will use for roaming. We expect to lose them all.
In eve do not fly what you can not afford to lose. Well....30 battlecruisers I guess we can afford to lose a lot.
Last week we ended up having drinks together and played eve only to make isk or mine. So no PVP since the last post.
So we are still building and mining!

Yogi 100billion isk!!!
Well, actually we hit 2 milestones. I amassed over 12 billion isk in minerals allowing us to build a massive fleet of canes and a support cruiser...about 10 of them. The support cruiser will be used to defend our space against small ships. The canes will be used for larger threats. I want to get my hands on a gnosis bpc or even bpo. We love that ship. We have done really well with it as well. So next good wormhole to highsec I will take it and bring in t2 bpcs and t1 as well. We can build our own pvp ships now...it feels great!!
Yogita has reached 100 billion isk. This milestone is very important as we are our own srp. SRP stands for ship replacement program. In Eve you will lose ships. With a SRP your corp or alliance will replace the ship you lost.
I think this is great for people who do not mind playing the meta. Yogita and I have helped home defence fleets destroy enemy fleets because we fit mods that reduced the enemies locking range.
When you play eve you learn that ships when fit with the right modules can wreck enemy ships. The issue with the meta is that many people learn what your meta is. So they can block it. It reminds of the days when we would use massive drake fleets. The Drake is a battle cruiser that uses missiles. The enemy used smart bombs to blow up our missiles before they could hit the target. Fleet after fleet we saw this. So yogi and i changed our fits we would hit small ships like frigates destroyers and cruisers. We had loads of fun doing this. However SRP works like this: you must use the fits that your alliance leadership has agreed on. Screw that!
Now that Yogi and i both have 100 billion isk we can do what we want!!

PVP action coming this Saturday!
Yogita and I enjoy watching eve online PVP videos. So we have decided to set up a roam of our own. We will bring a command ship, and a heavy assault ship. Basically, they will be active tanked with resistance to certain ships that drain energy. This will allow us to engage a wider set of targets. Small gangs of 5-7 ships we can wipe them out. Larger fleets we can reduce their numbers and die in a ball of fire and glory.
Blobs that is 20 or more...we will die very fast we want to avoid that if we can. Our plan is to raise isk for this all of this week. Then buy what we need and fit up our ships and head out! I am thinking it would nice to use a low sec wormhole. I will post an after action report here perhaps next Monday.
After work...it is...MAKE ISKIES time!!!

War is coming....gotta grab those minerals and build capitals!!
Goons have stated that they are going north. Well, we are going to ramp up our mining and ratting. Later we will start building capital hulls. We have to be ready. With my Rorqual and Yogita in her hulk, we can mine quite a bit. Together we do very nicely. We have about 10billion isk worth of ore that needs to be turned into capital ships, battleships, and battlecruisers. This way we can actually replace our lost ships using insurance and building them ourselves. I am hoping for loads of Goonswarm capital killmails.
Eve is nothing without conflict. The leader of Goons doesn't even log in...lets kill so many of his servants that he must. This war of the north will not be lost due to leadership worrying about the killboard.
Yogita and I raise our battle flags we are ready!!

Update!
Well, we have been going pretty steady building up mineral stockpiles and I am almost 50% of the way to breaking even on the Rorqual. Once I am at about 120billion isk with billions in minerals we will be going on daily PVP roams. Just Yogi and I. I think we can start at the end of summer. I am thinking Yogi in a vagabond and I will fly a command ship. I already have fits both will be kiting fits that brawl as well (with short range ammo). They will be bling as bling is SO cheap these days. We will fit many ships perhaps 15-20 each. The command ships will be expensive because we can not mine moon goo yet. Even so, we will insure each ship before our mini roam and we might even go on twitch. Basically, invest a nice pile of isk, blow through it then build up isk again and go out and die in a ball fire. In time we will get better and will die less as we adapt our strategies will change.
So for now we are still in build up mode. When moon fracking goes live we will be taking advantage of that to lower the cost of building t2 hulls for our pvp.
Ok time for some afk Ishtar ratting!

Rorqual time!
Yep I finally did it. I bought a Rorqual and took it out on its first mini mining op. One thing I will likely always do...I will never mine with other people other than really close people I trust. Also I will not let anyone know that I am mining. I used to go fleets in the past and we would gank carriers, and mining fleets. Spies were always used. Spies get paid nicely to provide targets. A Rorqual is like a massive mining station. It actually transforms into a mining station while you mine. Now here is the catch while in this super mining mode (about 2.5 times more yield that the hulk), you can not move.
Each cycle on your industrial core lasts 5 minutes. If you cycle your core once the ship will transform to its normal state losing the super mining ability with its billion per unit drones. So say your mining in a belt with loads of people they can actually time when your next 5 minute cycle will begin...meaning they have 5 minutes to let friends know exactly where you are! My solution is not perfect but I can not help but try my best to stay safe.
I actually love the on the edge of your seat feeling!

100 billion isk!
So I finally reached 100billion isk in my wallet. Of course this really is pennies when a titan cost about 100 billion for the hull alone. However it means that I am getting close to my goal. To be able to pilot Rorquals lose them and buy more or build more. In eve we have a saying....do not fly what you can not afford to lose. Yogita and I really take this to heart. We did not start regularly using our carriers until we had about 20-30bill backing us up if we lost one.
It is funny because while I crossed the milestone I lost 3 mobile tractor units. We have about 30 of them between us. That is not enough for a long stretch of ratting on the weekend, or on a holiday. So I will build a some more in a couple of days.
Soon yogi and I will be known in venal as the couple who rip things up, or gets torn up. But in order to do that..you need isk...a lot of it. So we can burn through 8-10 billion in ships and then go back to pve mode and make 20 billion isk.
All the while getting better and better at pvp!
I think Yogi has 86 or 87 billion.
Jita pile is at 11 billion isk.

Long 5 day weekend results...
Well we had a nice long weekend, and we had to cancel our camping plans. So while watching movies, and relaxing at home we tried out our version of the afk Ishtar.
We set it up to only run forsaken rally points which can escalate to 8/10 class DED sites. We made loads of isk doing this! I think I made well over 1.5billion isk off the little ship slaving away in anomaly after anomaly. We also have loads of modules pulled from the wrecked NPC ships. As of right now we have over 1.2 billion in minerals from modules, another 2.4 billion isk worth of minerals. So we did pretty darned good.
Yesterday which was a Monday night we managed to drop about 30 mtus each. We also have 2 8/10 sites to run tonight. Isk is rolling in!
However we did have a bit of pvp we lost our beloved Gnosis class battlecruisers as well as a Hurricane. We managed to kill a few ships as well.
I am now training for Rorqual 5 (Capital Industrial ships level 5), then after that I will train for the P.A.N.I.C module. I will explain what that is in about 6 weeks time.
Fly dangerous!!!
Oh we both lost a core gen implant set....but who cares we have back ups of back ups.

Gnosis attack part 2!
I am loving my gnosis fit. There I was at work and I decided to semi afk rat in my ishtar when I realized that a 8-9 interceptor gang was in the next star system over. So I hope in my Gnosis which is set up to pull kiters in very close. I smack one guy down then they all start to pull to range. I damp one interceptor down and...well he wanted to hold point on me. Not realizing that I had dual plates....my HAMs and drones made short work of him. My Gnosis now has 4 killmarks!
I really didn't like kiting Interceptors before....now I love em!!!

Wartime.....
We are being threatened with invasion by a major pvp alliance that has many allies. It seems that we have been holding our own. I was able to get in on my first citadel kill. I THINK we destroyed a POS (player owned starbase) that was protecting a supercapital fleet. I know that we have regular incursions of enemy fleets. Just yesterday an Orca (a command class industrial ship) was destroyed. I wonder how because we heard on intel channels about a large black ops fleet forming and we should safe up. Well other than that I do not feel like we are in a position to really worry. The coalition we are in is really strong, and form large fleets to counter hostiles. It would suck to have to leave branch for the second time but....I do not mind new areas bring new challenges.

This is the Orca it is a large ship that takes some time to get into warp if you do not use the mircowarp drive trick.
So if you are using said ship, and you have access to intel channels....PAY ATTENTION.

Rorquals getting caught...SPAIS are everywhere!!
It seems like we have a large number of Rorquals getting destroyed recently. This leads me to believe something is up. Of course many will argue that well the ship sits in the belt locked in place because of it's industrial core. The industrial core is a module that really is at the heart of the Rorquals power. I turns nice drones into SUPER mining monsters!! But you are stuck in place much like a dreadnought using a siege, or Force Aux ship using a triage module.
But those modules are used in either pvp or high risk pve. You have a team of people (we are talking about wormholes) that provide intel and security. Null security space is much the same. We have really good intel channels, people checking new wormholes that pop up. We have people who know who the gankers are, and who will open a cyno (a portal) through which a large number ships will arrive and blap you.
With all of this...still these capital ships are getting destroyed. They are very expensive like I mentioned in another post about 10-13 billion isk ...EACH. This leads me to the only weakness in this set up....spies. Spies can tell an enemy when you have started a new industrial core cycle (so the baddies know your stuck for 5 minutes). They can give out intel on your mining habits. It is hard to believe that these miners invest billions of isk into a ship not to mention the training time. To not have a good set up excellent intel channels, in a large standing fleet where others can rush to your aid...and still get caught and blown up. What this does it will keep mineral prices high as too many capital mining ships get blown up...the massive boosting capabilities go with them. Mining in a hulk with out boosts is...meh. With boost...its amazing!!
My thoughts....spies are feeding Rorquals to large PVP blocs. Or rather the large PVP blocs have infiltrated most null security regions and can regularly feed intel which leads to a steady stream of dead Rorquals. Me thinks....it is best to wait before jumping in and buying ot build one just to become a target. Who cares about a carrier....it can be set to instantly warp, or jump out. They are worth maybe 2-3billion fully fit, usually 2 billion if you are trying to save money. So watch your butts people, you are being watched....and there isn't much you can do about it to counter such an attack...

'Excavator' Mining Drone
Excavator mining drones the new super drones that the Rorqual uses have gone down in price. From 1.2 bil a unit to 781 mil. I am waiting on a couple of things. First will the yield be nerfed so hard that it just isn't worth buying. And of course I am waiting on further price drops. Please do not nerf the yield CCP.
This is the Rorqual in deployed mode. It's drones get a MASSIVE boost to yield while in this mode. The ship can not move and one cycle I believe takes 5 minutes. All across null sec these ships have been destroyed. Before this recent release the Rorqual used to sit inside Player Owned Starbases and give boosts to fleets from there. Sometimes warping to a belt to grab dozens of cans left by the mining fleet. Now this ship must in the belt with other mining ships, and it can out mine many of them.

This is the new super drone. 5 of these bad boys can out mine 2-3 Hulk class Exhumers!!

Hmm should I buy a 8-13 billion isk Rorqual..
So I spent some time on the test server mining in a Rorqual. WOW...I was blown away. With a mining oriented setup that thing out mines 5 un boosted Hulk class Exhumers. Exhumers are the main line of mining ships. Boosted it can mining with the capacity of 2.5 hulks with max boosts and and skills. Oh....and the Rorqual can compress ore. With its impressive 300,000m3 hold, matched with the ability to compress ore....this thing is a beast. It can mine and compress MILLIONS of m3 of ore. Match that with the proposed setup I would use...3 hulks...2 with near max skills, and another very well skilled, and my main in a Rorqual....WOW
Then I saw this battle report..
https://zkillboard.com/related/30004194/201703121400/
They lost 7 Rorquals and they had a defense fleet...I think.... SEVEN. That would drain my wallet....to perhaps 10bill or so. They lost .....so many...ships.No my 94 billion isk would be GONE.
So..I am thinking....Rorqual....erm....nah wait till the price of the capital mining drones drop a bit in price...say 200-300 million a unit. They cost 1.2bil EACH. Those Rorquals had 5 of em.....OUCH.
Amazing changes...but too steep for my wallet.

We see so many killmails where pilots shipping goods to Jita (the largest market hub in Eve), getting caught and blown up. You see getting things into and out of Jita is risky. In Eve there are many ways to earn isk. One of them is to destroy ships hauling valuable things, and grab what survives the destruction of the ship. We call these people gankers or pirates. I love them. They keep doing stupid things like take multiple jumps into low sec in a ship with no tank, and can be scanned. Meaning pirates know what you have in your hold, and they set up a smart bomb trap ahead of your route. Some people even auto pilot.
In Null sec...it is simple learn how to porbe well, it is very easy. Then probe down any wh you find. Use either a well tanked cloaky strategic cruiser (use warpcore stabilizers on the low slots if you happen to get caguht). If you are carrying more stuff in the 2000-3000 m3 range use a cloaky hauler with a tank! Directly probing down low sec or high sec wormholes take time, but it is far safer. Intel channels can work against you. People know that there is a Prowler class transport ship moving towards Jita along a well know and often used route. Wh's suddenly pop up, so the route to Jita will be different. Wormholes are random as well. So it nice having my wallet 10 billion isk fatter. I bought a Golem, and I plan on buying another one just for pvp.
So try not to get caught and spend your isk on things you want, don't line the pockets of those nasty pirates.

Theory crafting finally pays off!!
https://zkillboard.com/br/88689/
So I arrived at home a bit late from work. I can see that my wife has logged in my character. Awesome. I sit down and I start planning out what we will do in eve that evening, well yesterday evening...err night it was 10pm Korea time. I never just hop in a ratting or scanning ship when I log on after being offline for sometime. I wait and check intel channels. What if there is a cloaky ship that has probed down the relic site I want to run. Or perhaps there is a Blops gang staging nearby, So waiting to checking what the situation is in our area is important. Sometimes I see a target that I have just the right counter to heading to our system. This happened yesterday. I have been playing around with a anti kiting fit close range brawling Gnosis class battle cruiser. Basically I have both of our ships mid slots with damps 4 damps each. These reduce the locking range of the hostile ship. So if you really want to point me (warp scramble or warp disrupt) and prevent me from warping off, your going to have to close range....into our dps. So an interceptor and 5 sivpuls (tactical destroyers), our 2 jumps out. I call to Yogita...ok I shout "HEY KID GRAB UR GNOSIS". I am surprised when she actually drops what she is doing and makes sure that she has dual plates on her ship (the last time she has just one 1600mm armor plate and she almost got blown up...thanks to the damps she got away!), and I warp our 2 ships to the XM- gate in Qcwa (these are star systems in Eve. Qcwa is where we live and spent most of our time).
The interceptor enters the system and is eager to point me and pull range. Well...7 damps later he realizes that if he wants to maintain point he had better close range. So that is what he does....Yogita and I blow up the interceptor, and 4 out of the 5 sivpuls. We go on to loot the wrecks of their ships and wow...it was a blast. Yogita and I play around with different fits and often duel each other to test out our ideas. Theory crafting is a big part of Eveonline!

Oh yeah...I got a capital spawn in a sanctum helping me make my 100 million isk for the day super easy!

HUGE UPDATE
Wow it has been to long. I have not updated this blog in ages. Did I quit eve?? HECK NO.We have resettled in branch with some new people...well some are former CFC pilots. I am loving it. I have been in the massive blobs for a long time. It is nice to enjoy the pve, industry side for while. Our Jita pile is a whopping 10 billion isk...estimated so that is likely 9.5 billion. I want it to grow to insane amounts. We are looking to build capitals likely a Rorqual to aid in either boosting mining on grid, or hauling 40 cans at a time. I also want to use carriers in a pure pvp role the only issue is that people might drop super carriers on us...
Yogita is getting more and more interested in pvp. Soon we will building our favorite ships in a couple of months.
So we have not quit...not by a long shot...I might have 100billion in my wallet by the end the month.
